The coastal units of the Tunisian National Guard have thwarted 501 attempts at illegal maritime border crossings from the beginning of the year until March 31. The spokesperson for the General Administration of the National Guard, Hossam al-Din Jabali, announced that the units rescued 14,406 illegal migrants, including 13,138 from Sub-Saharan Africa, with the remainder being Tunisian nationals. As part of proactive measures to combat the phenomenon of clandestine migration, coastal units in the central, coastal, northern, and southern regions apprehended 63 individuals involved in facilitating and organizing irregular migration operations. Additionally, 135 sea vessels and 12 vehicles used for transportation were confiscated.
