Kuwait's Jazeera Airways Seeks Increased Air Traffic with India

Jazeera Airways from Kuwait urged India on Tuesday to increase air traffic between the two countries, reiterating a similar request made by Emirates Airlines to New Delhi.

Rohit Ramachandran, the CEO of Jazeera Airways, stated at the CAPA India Aviation Summit that the current number of travelers on flights between the countries stands at 12,000 per week, which does not align with current economic trends.

Ramachandran told Reuters that Kuwait has requested to raise the cap to 28,000 seats, noting that discussions are ongoing.

These statements come as Gulf airlines continue to press for more capacity and the opening of secondary routes in the world's fastest-growing aviation market, while India expands its aviation activities by having Air India place a record order for aircraft.

Ramachandran added that Jazeera Airways, which finalized an order to purchase 28 Airbus A320neo family aircraft last year, has expressed interest in acquiring the A321XLR, the largest single-aisle aircraft from Airbus.
