Surgery Completed for Pope Francis - No Complications

The Vatican announced that the surgery undergone by Pope Francis (86 years old) on Wednesday has been completed without complications. It confirmed the cancellation of meetings with the public beyond June 16. The Vatican revealed that the Pope underwent emergency surgery under general anesthesia in Rome to avoid a bowel obstruction. Matteo Bruni, the director of the Holy See's media office, stated in a press release that "this surgical intervention became necessary due to the worsening symptoms experienced by the Pope, according to his medical team, and will result in his staying in the hospital for several days." The Pope entered Gemelli Hospital in Rome for medical tests on Tuesday.
