The head of the Batroun Festival Committee, lawyer Said Fayyad, indicated that the "International Batroun Festivals Committee" is completing preparations to launch its first-of-its-kind project, an "Underwater Museum," in collaboration with the Lebanese Army and the Batroun Municipality. The museum aims to display old military vehicles that are no longer usable and have been submerged in the sea with the approval of the army command, creating a space for divers from the city of Batroun. The museum will include seven military vehicles: two four-wheel-drive military cars, a troop transporter, a bus, a naval patrol boat, a tank, and a helicopter, which were transported from Riyaq. In this context, Fayyad affirmed that the museum is "a sustainable tourism project that will also serve as a source of fish wealth and enhance both the tourism and economic sectors without harming the marine environment." He mentioned that "the displayed vehicles are metal structures drained of fuels and oils, stripped of their tires and engines, and cleaned by the army before being submerged in the sea, with the activity set to launch during the opening of our summer festivals on June 2."
