Member of the "Democratic Gathering" bloc, MP Wael Abu Faour expressed hope that "the coming days will bring a solution to the dilemma of electing a new president for the republic," stating that "the ball is back in the court of the internal political forces after external communications have been exhausted." He said, "We want a president who is accepted by the Arabs and capable of understanding with the outside; we want a unifying compromise president who is accepted by all and represents everyone." Abu Faour added, "Lebanon is not on the agenda of regional movements and reconciliations, but it may benefit from this atmosphere, and once again, internal movement is required to reach an agreement on a president acceptable to everyone internally." MP Abu Faour's stance came during his visit to the Maronite Bishop of Zahle, Bishop Joseph Moawad, at the bishopric.
