Public Works and Transport Minister in the caretaker government, Ali Hamie, tweeted: "Our unwavering confidence in the role, importance, and stature of the Port of Beirut is reflected in its activity. In May 2023, it recorded the highest monthly container handling rate (73,000 containers), the highest since August 2020. The Port of Beirut is gradually returning to play prominent and distinctive roles in its national economic capacity."
