Pentagon Releases Report on Injured Soldiers in Syria

The U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) announced today, Thursday, that six American soldiers in Syria sustained brain injuries during two separate attacks last week carried out by Iran-backed militants, adding that their conditions were diagnosed during routine checks in recent days. Pentagon estimates indicated that eight militants were killed in U.S. retaliatory airstrikes on two Iran-related facilities in Syria.

Pentagon spokesperson Brigadier General Patrick Ryder explained that four individuals suffered brain injuries at the U.S. base near the Syrian city of Hasakah during a drone strike on March 23, while two others were injured at the Green Village site during an attack on March 24. He noted in a press briefing that "all individuals in the vicinity of any explosion undergo screening for brain injuries. Therefore, these additional injuries were detected during medical evaluations following the attack."
