Strong winds disrupted air and train services in the Netherlands on Wednesday morning, prompting authorities to urge citizens to stay indoors. The national meteorological institute issued a warning for a large part of the country. According to the Dutch news agency (ANP), "about 300 flights were canceled at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam." The railway company (NS) halted all train services in northern Holland. At least one person was killed as a rare summer storm hit the Netherlands. In Amsterdam, several people were injured as trees were toppled by the storm, damaging cars and houseboats. A Dutch news site reported that a woman died in the town of Haarlem after a tree fell on her due to the severe, uncommon summer storm.
