Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva pledged today, Monday, to restore stability and credibility, urging Portuguese companies and others to establish partnerships with Brazilian firms, in an attempt to attract cautious foreign investors back to Brazil. Lula, speaking at an event also attended by Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa and other government officials in the Portuguese city of Matosinhos, stated: "Brazil is ready to return to its position as a large and attractive country as it once was... it needs political, social, and judicial stability to attract foreign capital." He added that there are opportunities for foreign investment in various sectors, including renewable energy projects.
