An informed source told Reuters that the International Boxing Association will appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport against the International Olympic Committee's decision to withdraw its recognition. The Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee recommended last week the withdrawal of recognition from the International Boxing Association due to its failure to implement a set of reforms. The decision now needs to be ratified in a special session of the International Olympic Committee, scheduled to be held virtually on June 22. Following the announcement from the International Olympic Committee, the International Boxing Association criticized the decision, describing it as a "truly vile and purely political move." The Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee recommended that the next session of the IOC determine that "the International Boxing Association should not organize boxing competitions at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028." The International Olympic Committee suspended the membership of the International Boxing Association in 2019 due to issues related to governance, financing, arbitration, and ethics, and did not involve it in the management of boxing competitions at the Tokyo Olympics.
