The Syrian Prime Minister Hussein Arnous thanked caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati for the support provided by Lebanon following the earthquake that struck several areas in Syria. Arnous stated in a letter to Mikati: "On behalf of the Government of the Syrian Arab Republic and in my personal capacity, I extend my sincere thanks and appreciation for the assistance provided by the friendly Republic of Lebanon, which had a significant impact in alleviating the consequences of this disaster caused by the earthquake that affected several provinces, resulting in much tragedy and destruction."
He emphasized that "this humanitarian stance truly reflects the authenticity of the brotherly Lebanese people." He concluded, "I thank you once again, asking God not to afflict you with calamity and to grant you and the brotherly Lebanese people safety and security."
