The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre reported today, Saturday, that a 6.2 magnitude earthquake occurred off the coast of Indonesia. In a statement, it noted that the earthquake's epicenter was in the Banda Sea, 346 km southwest of the city of Ambon, which has a population of approximately 355,000 residents. The center added that the earthquake's focus was at a depth of 20 km. No information has been received about the possibility of a tsunami as a result, and there have been no reports of injuries or material damage.
