The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced a new process that will enable Afghan citizens to renew their conditional release and continue living and working in the United States. The department stated in a press release on Thursday: "The new process is streamlined, will incur no cost, and will allow for a two-year renewal of conditional release for eligible individuals."
It added: "Afghans are encouraged to seek permanent status in the United States for which they may be eligible. Renewal requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis for urgent humanitarian reasons and to serve the public benefit."
