The Lebanese Minister of Justice in the caretaker government, Henry Khoury, called in a statement for Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati to reverse the decision to postpone Daylight Saving Time in order to avert catastrophic risks that may result from it. The statement mentioned: "The decision of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers to postpone the implementation of summer time by one month is contrary to the Cabinet decision issued on August 20, 1998. Therefore, it is issued by an invalid authority and violates the principle of legality."
He continued: "This decision has caused confusion in Lebanese society and led to disturbances and divisions among high religious authorities and private educational and media institutions, all of which publicly declared that they would not adhere to the decision. Additionally, it contradicts the global timing followed for decades, which will cause numerous problems for all Lebanese companies and significant financial burdens in a sector that is already suffering from the effects of a severe economic crisis. Furthermore, it may have serious consequences in a country plagued by social, economic, and living crises, supporting the position of colleague Minister Najla Riachi."
