Brazilian President Lula da Silva stated on Wednesday that the use of a unified currency by BRICS nations for trade transactions will reduce their vulnerabilities. He mentioned in the opening plenary session of the BRICS summit in Johannesburg: "Issuing a currency for trade and investment transactions among BRICS members increases our payment options and reduces our vulnerabilities."
