The scattered picture will dominate the phase following President Michel Aoun’s term indefinitely, as the prospects among the factions entrenched behind the barriers of political division do not suggest any possibility of piecing together the presidential puzzle on a consensual basis, leading to a natural presidential election in the foreseeable future. The prevailing sentiment of confrontation currently overshadows any calls for understanding and harmony.
In light of this predicament, the question arises: is there a way out of this impasse, and if so, how can it be reached? In this context, the answer comes pessimistically from a responsible source who stated to "Al-Joumhouria": "I do not see a glimmer of hope on the presidential horizon; the election is a victim of a fragmented political reality that can only be organized through consensus. Unfortunately, they do not want consensus; rather, they are skillfully crafting defeats for themselves and their country for free.
In any case, regardless of how long it takes, there is no escape from traversing the path of consensus. We currently have an opportunity to reach it smoothly; what I fear is that we might reach a time compelled by a shocking experience that could carry significant political, financial, and economic costs, and perhaps even more.”
