Ukrainian Ground Forces Commander Oleksandr Syrskiy stated today, Tuesday, that Ukrainian forces are repelling Russian attempts to advance towards the center of the small city of Bakhmut in the eastern part of the country. Syrskiy wrote on the Telegram messaging app, "Enemy assault groups are trying to advance from the outskirts to the city center, but our defensive forces are operating and destroying them." He added, "The fighting is fierce along the entire eastern front line." The ongoing battle for control of Bakhmut, which has lasted for months, has become one of the bloodiest battles in the nearly 13-month-long Russian war in Ukraine.
