The Israeli parliament, the Knesset, approved the 2023-2024 budget today, Wednesday, providing a political breathing space for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after months of unprecedented protests against the judicial reform plans adopted by his religious-nationalist coalition. The Knesset stated that "the final reading of a spending package amounting to 484 billion shekels, or 131 billion dollars for this year, and 514 billion shekels, or 139 billion dollars for the next year, was approved by a majority of 64 votes to 56." In an interview with Channel 14, Netanyahu said, "A new dawn has begun. We are trying to reach understandings in the compromise talks. I hope we succeed in that."
