Maduro Proposes Formation of a Bloc for Russia and China Allies in Latin America

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has suggested to the Venezuelan National Assembly the establishment of a political bloc uniting the allies of Russia and China in Latin America. Maduro stated, "I discussed this over the phone with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Colombian President Gustavo Petro, and Argentine President Alberto Fernández." He added, "A new era is coming, a special stage to unite the efforts and paths of Latin America and the Caribbean to approach the formation of a strong bloc that combines the political and economic powers that will engage with the world."

He affirmed that such a "political bloc" could become "a new line of strength" with China and Russia. He also mentioned, "This community will share the goals that the big brother (Chinese President) Xi Jinping speaks of, who said that humanity is united by a common destiny. Or building the multipolar and multi-centered world that the big brother (Russian President) Vladimir Putin talks about."
