French Prime Minister: France Has Nearly Filled Its Gas Storage Tanks

French Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne confirmed that "no matter what happens, we are ready for this winter. We anticipated this situation in advance," amid a gas supply shortage in Europe. In a speech before Parliament during a session dedicated to discussing the war in Ukraine, she noted that France has nearly filled its gas storage tanks and increased the capacity of facilities built in ports to process liquefied natural gas. Borne pointed out that "the president announced a plan to save energy this summer. If everyone participates, we will get through the coming months without the risk of outages." The French government had urged residents not to use heating in their homes unless the temperature drops below 19 degrees Celsius.
