In Iraq, a Couple in Their Nineties Marry

An Iraqi man in his nineties named Suleiman Hamid shared the details of his marriage to Jameela Qadir, who is close to his age. He stated in an interview with "Nas" channel: "Yesterday, family and children held a small celebration for us in the wilderness in the Kermyan area adjacent to Khanqin, attended by reporters, just four days after the marriage contract was signed."

Hamid added: "I love my wife like my own eyes and heart because she is committed and dedicated, and she is (as sweet as chocolate). My previous wife passed away eight months ago, and based on the insistence of my children and family, I proposed to the widow whose husband died a year ago. I was loyal to my late wife, who was ill for many years, and I cared for her like a mother with her child. After she passed away, I thought of getting married to spend the rest of my life with a woman who would ease my loneliness. I promised her that I would take her to Umrah, and I gifted her a precious ring in addition to her agreed dowry."
