Mikati Monitors the Situation in the South and Contacts the Army Commander and UNIFIL Leadership

Prime Minister Najib Mikati monitored the situation in the south through calls with Army Commander General Joseph Aoun and the leadership of UNIFIL. He is scheduled to meet this afternoon with the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Joanna Froncyska, and a delegation from the international forces operating in southern Lebanon (UNIFIL) led by Commander General Arnaldo Lazaro. Earlier today, the Prime Minister received the UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wennesland, along with the political advisor to the Special Coordinator, Miroslav Zafirov, and Director of Political Affairs George Rix. The meeting focused on Lebanon's commitment to international resolutions and the Blue Line, as well as the necessity of maintaining calm and stability in the south. Prime Minister Mikati also met with the Italian Ambassador to Lebanon, Nicoletta Bombardieri, where they discussed general conditions and bilateral relations between the two countries.
