5 Million People Threatened with Job Loss

Reiner Dolger, the head of the German Employers' Association, warned that due to the current crisis, the number of workers in Germany will decrease by 5 million by 2030, which will exacerbate the economic situation. In a statement to the newspaper "Welt am Sonntag," Dolger stated, "By 2030, the number of workers will fall by 5 million," explaining that this will result in the state receiving fewer taxes and contributions to the social system. He added that social systems should adapt to these circumstances, saying, "We will not be able to maintain the prosperity that we have been accustomed to in Germany," while emphasizing the need to seriously address the economic crisis. He stated, "We are not far away yet," indicating that many companies now feel their existence is at risk, with some having applied for bankruptcy because their business models no longer work due to rising energy costs. He continued, "In addition to the acute crisis, we are undergoing structural changes."
