Peruvian authorities announced on Monday that they seized 2.3 tons of cocaine hidden in ceramic tiles before being smuggled to Turkey via a maritime drug trafficking route. The police reported that the quantity was seized on Friday in a warehouse at the Port of El Callao, which is the largest port in Peru and located near the capital Lima. El Callao police chief Luis Ángel Polanco stated, "This is the first incident we are aware of where the shipment is in Peruvian ports and its final destination is Turkey. We are usually familiar with ports in Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, and France." He added that the value of the seized quantity is estimated to be at least $20 million.
