European Council President Charles Michel stated on Monday that "EU leaders will discuss the bloc's position on China and future relations at their upcoming summit in June." Michel wrote on Twitter: "The policy between the EU and China will be on the agenda of our European Council in June." He added, "Foreign ministers will prepare for this discussion, led by (EU foreign policy chief) Josep Borrell." Before their meeting on Monday, foreign ministers from EU member states expressed their discontent regarding recent remarks made by the Chinese ambassador to France, who questioned the sovereignty of former Soviet states such as Ukraine.
