The Malmo Arab Film Festival in Sweden awarded Egyptian actor Hussein Fahmy the "Lifetime Achievement" award on Friday during the opening of its thirteenth edition, attended by several filmmakers, stars, and critics of Arab cinema. Established in 2011, the festival is the largest platform for Arab cinema in the Scandinavian countries, showcasing 45 films from 12 countries this year. Festival president Mohamed Qablawi stated during the opening speech: "We are pleased and honored in this edition to honor a significant cinematic figure, and as I mentioned before, he is the one who honors us with his presence in Malmo; he is the one who honors the Malmo Arab Film Festival with his attendance." Fahmy, who currently serves as the president of the Cairo International Film Festival, will hold a cinema masterclass at the Malmo City Library this coming Sunday.
