FIFA Prohibits Peru from Hosting the World Cup

Peru has been prohibited by FIFA from hosting the FIFA tournament due to its failure to complete the necessary infrastructure before the World Cup for Under-17s. FIFA stated, "The Under-17 World Cup is still set to take place between November 10 and December 2," adding that its board will select a new host. FIFA clarified in a statement: "Despite a very positive working relationship between FIFA and the Peruvian Football Federation, it has been decided that there is now not enough time to secure the necessary investment and complete the required work with the Government of Peru before the tournament's start date."
