The President of Nigeria's state oil company announced today, Friday, that the feasibility study for the proposed gas pipeline from Nigeria to Morocco is over 70% complete. The CEO of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele Kyari, stated that "the estimated cost is around $25 billion. We already have a vision for the source of this funding. We have no concerns." Kyari mentioned that the pipeline will be 5,600 kilometers long and will transport up to four billion standard cubic feet per day upon completion, with supplies coming from Nigeria, Senegal, and Mauritania. NNPC expects a final investment decision on the project in 2023. The project, which is being promoted as a means to enhance economic integration in West Africa, will add to the existing network of gas pipelines supplying Europe.
