The foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) countries agreed to continue supporting Ukraine, maintain sanctions against Russia, and cooperate to tighten oversight of compliance with restrictive measures. The group's statement emphasized that "the G7 will keep strict sanctions against Russia, as well as maintain its strong support for Ukraine." They agreed to enhance cooperation in combating sanction evasion and addressing the supply of weapons to Russia from third countries.
Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi emphasized "the importance of maintaining the cohesion of the G7 and partner countries in the context of the prolonged conflict in Ukraine, continuing strict sanctions against Russia, and providing strong assistance to Ukraine." During the G7 foreign ministers' meeting in Japan, Hayashi noted that "Russia's announced decision to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus is exacerbating tensions" and pointed out that "Japan has announced aid to Ukraine amounting to $7.6 billion."
