Continued School Closures in India

All schools in the Indian state of Manipur remain closed amid ongoing violence, despite a government order for their reopening today, Wednesday, in an effort to restore normalcy. An unnamed official from the state's education department noted, "Students, teachers, and staff did not attend school this morning, and four private schools resumed classes while government schools remain closed." The government mandated the reopening of schools starting today for children aged five to 14. Some schools in Manipur have been exempted from reopening as they are currently serving as relief shelters for displaced individuals.
