China hosted two Russian warships that previously sailed through Taiwan and Japan and are expected to conduct joint training with the Chinese navy during their visit, reflecting the ongoing military cooperation between the two countries. Chinese state television reported that "the frigates Gromky and Sovershenny docked at the port of Shanghai yesterday, Wednesday."
According to the report, during the 7-day visit, the two ships will engage in exercises with the Chinese navy in Shanghai, including training on movement formations, communications, and maritime rescue operations.
The ships passed through waters near Taiwan in late June, and later sailed near the Japanese Okinawa Islands, which host a large U.S. military base, earlier this month. China and Russia are committed to strengthening military relations.
