Emirates Airlines revealed today, Friday, that a "significant" amount of ticket sales revenue is being withheld in Nigeria, adding that progress in converting the held funds from Africa's largest economy has been slow. Nigerian aviation minister Hadi Sirika told reporters yesterday that the airline has received most of its funds from Nigeria but still has about $35 million yet to be converted. Emirates Airlines spokesperson Rola Tadros stated via email that approximately 50% of the amounts approved for conversion are overdue and that the process "remains fraught with ongoing delays."
