According to the Korean news agency Yonhap, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol issued directives on Monday to make every possible effort to address the damage caused by the heavy rains that the country has recently experienced, including designating certain areas as special disaster zones. The president, who is currently on a trip abroad, held a remote meeting to discuss the disaster response and stated that some areas failed to implement preventive measures amidst very severe weather conditions. The floods and landslides resulting from the heavy rains have resulted in the deaths of at least 35 people across the country.
