Data from the UK Office for National Statistics revealed on Wednesday that the consumer price inflation in the country fell to 10.1% in March, down from 10.4% in February. Economists surveyed by Reuters had anticipated the annual rate to drop to 9.8% in March, moving further away from the 41-year high of 11.1% recorded in October. However, it still significantly impacts the purchasing power of workers whose wages are increasing at a slower rate. Despite the decrease in March, the inflation rate in Britain remains the highest in Western Europe.
