America Urges Israeli Leaders to Reach a Settlement

Adrian Watson, spokesperson for the National Security Council at the White House, expressed deep concern regarding the events in Israel, urging leaders to reach a settlement as soon as possible to end the crisis over judicial amendments after the decision to dismiss the Israeli defense minister sparked mass protests. He stated, "We continue to strongly urge Israeli leaders to reach a settlement as soon as possible. We believe this is the best path forward for Israel and all its citizens." Watson added that "democratic values have been and must remain a hallmark of U.S.-Israeli relations, as evidenced in the recent discussions held by the President with Prime Minister Netanyahu." He continued, "Checks and balances strengthen democratic societies, and any substantive changes to the democratic system must occur with the broadest possible base of public support."
