Today, King of Morocco, King Mohammed VI, announced that his country will present a joint bid with Spain and Portugal to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup. The announcement came during a ceremony honoring King Mohammed VI for receiving the Outstanding Achievement Award for 2022 from the President of the African Football Confederation (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, in Rwanda. In a speech delivered on behalf of King Mohammed VI after receiving the award, Minister of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education, and Scientific Research Chakib Benmoussa stated the intention to present the bid, saying: "This joint bid will signify a connection between Africa, Europe, and Mediterranean countries."
