Data from the Federal Employment Agency in Germany showed today, Friday, that "the unemployment rate in the country rose more than expected in June." The agency reported an increase of 28,000 unemployed individuals, bringing the total to 2.61 million after seasonal adjustments. Analysts surveyed by "Reuters" had predicted an increase of 13,000 individuals. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate rose to 5.7 percent. Agency head Andrea Nálz pointed out that "the impact of difficult economic conditions is now also evident in the labor market. Unemployment is rising, and economic growth is losing momentum."
