Netanyahu's office stated that "Israel operates everywhere using various methods to protect Jews and Israelis and will continue to work to eliminate Iranian terrorism wherever it emerges, including within Iranian territory." The Israeli news site Ynet reported, without citing sources, that the attack was intended to target Israelis residing in the city of Limassol. Cyprus government spokesman Constantinos Letymbiotis, when asked about the Israeli statement, said, "We do not comment on matters related to national security."
