Lebanon Faces Unusual Weather... Ministry of Environment Warns

Environment Minister in the caretaker government, Nasser Yassin, announced that "Lebanon is facing unusual weather." He stated: "We are witnessing a transient wave of hot and dry air in most Lebanese areas, increasing the risk index for fire outbreaks and their spread according to the attached maps. Therefore, the Ministry of Environment warns of the risk of rapidly spreading fires this weekend, especially today in the Dinniyeh and Akkar regions, and on Sunday in the Chouf region, Western Bekaa, and the south." Yassin urged all citizens to "immediately report any source of fire near or within forests, and for the relevant authorities to intervene quickly to prevent the spread of fire in the forest cover, which poses a threat to public safety and the environment in general."
