The Syrian state news agency reported early this Wednesday morning that a military source stated Israel carried out an airstrike targeting points in rural Damascus, resulting in "serious injuries to a soldier and material losses." The source mentioned that around 1:05 AM today, Israel executed "an aerial aggression from the direction of the occupied Syrian Golan, targeting some points southwest of Damascus." The source added, "Our air defense systems confronted the missiles of the aggression and shot down some of them." Israel has been conducting strikes for years against what it considers Iranian-related targets in Syria, where Tehran's influence has grown since it began supporting President Bashar al-Assad in the war that erupted in his country in 2011.
