Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman made his first official visit to South Korea since assuming his role as Saudi Minister of Defense. During his visit, he reached an agreement with his South Korean counterpart to establish regular ministerial-level dialogue on cooperation in the arms industry, according to South Korea's Yonhap News Agency.
In a tweet, he expressed his pleasure at meeting South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and conveyed the greetings of Saudi King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, wishing the Korean government and people further progress and prosperity.
The South Korean Ministry of Defense stated that the two ministers agreed to hold annual dialogues for systematic and practical discussions on bilateral defense cooperation and arms manufacturing. While the ministry did not provide details about negotiations with the Saudi defense minister, Yonhap noted that it is known that Saudi Arabia is considering acquiring the Chungong 2 medium-range surface-to-air missile system, manufactured in South Korea.
