The Canadian Soccer Federation announced today, Tuesday, the appointment of former men's national team captain Jason de Vos as interim general secretary of the federation. He will take on the role on May 12. Cochran has become the latest senior official to leave the Canadian Soccer Federation amid a long-standing dispute between the men's and women's national teams.
In his new position, de Vos will be the executive in charge of operations at the federation and will work closely with the board of directors in consultation with members and all relevant parties. He indicated in a statement that "improving the environment is a priority for player performance development." De Vos, 49, has collaborated with the Canadian federation over the past six years, is a member of the federation's executive committee, and had been serving as the development director.
