Protest Against Macron's Law: Climbing a Skyscraper

On Wednesday, free climber Alain Robert, known as the "French Spider-Man," climbed a 38-story skyscraper in Paris without any safety equipment, using only his bare hands and climbing shoes. This act was to show support for protesters opposing the pension law that raises the retirement age in France.

Robert stated to Reuters before climbing the 150-meter tall building in the business district of La Défense, "I am here to show my support for those who oppose the pension reform." He added, "I am here to tell French President Emmanuel Macron to be realistic... by climbing without a safety net."

He continued, "The amendment signed by Macron earlier this week to become law after months of street protests means he will have to keep working and climbing for longer." Robert has climbed more than 150 skyscrapers around the world, including the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, the Eiffel Tower, and the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.
