The Customs Administration at Hamad International Airport thwarted an attempt to smuggle Tramadol pills and cannabis coinciding with the start of the FIFA World Cup, as announced by Qatari authorities. The Customs Administration wrote on Twitter, "The Customs Administration at Hamad International Airport foiled an attempt to smuggle Tramadol pills and cannabis."
According to a statement from the Customs Administration reported by AFP, "A customs officer suspected the luggage of a traveler, and upon inspection, 1,990 Tramadol pills were found, as well as 464.5 grams of cannabis." A Qatari official stated that the traveler in question, whose information has not been disclosed, will appear before the public prosecutor.
