The Israeli newspaper "Haaretz" announced the death of the infamous Israeli officer, Amitsur Cohen, one of the main perpetrators of massacres against Egyptian soldiers during the 1948 war, at the age of 96. Cohen appeared in an interview boasting: "I don't remember the number of Arabs I killed in 1948; I never counted because I was a killer, and I took no prisoners, I killed the prisoners themselves." "Haaretz" reported that Amitsur Cohen participated in the 1948 war with a machine gun and killed hundreds of Arab soldiers. Cohen served in the Alexandroni Brigade and later transferred to the Golani Brigade, participating in the occupation of the Egyptian city of Eilat. After retiring from the Israeli army, he returned to the settlement of "Benyamina" where his parents' farm was located.
