S.B. Singh, an official from India's National Disaster Management Authority, indicated on Saturday that the death toll from a landslide in Maharashtra, western India, has risen to 26, amid fears that dozens may still be trapped under layers of mud and debris two days after the incident. Singh stated, "We are still unable to ascertain the number of people who remain trapped," noting that "rescue operations are hindered due to continuous rainfall, poor visibility, and mountainous terrain." He mentioned that around 16 or 17 houses were affected by the landslide, and many families have been relocated. Meanwhile, the Times of India reported that about 80 people remain missing.
