Title: US Seizes Iranian Oil Shipment at Sea Amid Tensions with Tehran

The United States has seized Iranian oil from a tanker at sea as part of an enforcement operation against sanctions, according to three sources. A maritime security company indicated that Iran had detained a tanker in response to the US seizing its shipment. The maritime security company Ambrey stated, "The seizure of the Iranian oil shipment took place at least five days before Iran's action yesterday." The sources noted that Washington took control of the oil shipment from the tanker Suez Rajan, which flies the Marshall Islands flag, after obtaining a court order earlier. Iranian Navy Deputy Commander Admiral Mustafa Tajodini stated, "Before using force, we tried to communicate with the ship... to stop, but they did not cooperate." A UN spokesperson mentioned that Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is aware of the seizure of the tanker in the Gulf of Oman and reiterated his support for international maritime law.
