Finnish President Visits Turkey and Requests His Country's NATO Membership

The Turkish presidency announced today, Wednesday, that Finnish President Sauli Niinistö plans to visit Turkey this week to discuss his country's request to join NATO with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The presidency stated in a statement, "Bilateral relations as well as Finland's request for NATO membership will be discussed in meetings to be held in Istanbul."
