On Wednesday, Iran announced the seizure of a foreign tugboat in Gulf waters after discovering approximately 382,000 liters of diesel fuel on board, detaining 11 foreign nationals from its crew on suspicion of fuel smuggling.
According to Iran's official news agency "IRNA," the operation was conducted following a security alert about smuggled petroleum products aboard the tugboat in the northern Gulf.
IRNA reported that border guard forces in Abadan responded to the alert, managing to capture the vessel and confiscate its cargo, estimated to be around 382,000 liters of diesel fuel.
The report added that 11 foreign nationals on the tugboat were detained, without disclosing their nationalities or the identity of the tugboat or its flag nation.
