Syria Allows the UN to Deliver Aid Through Turkey for Another Six Months

The Syrian government has granted the United Nations approval to use a border crossing with Turkey to continue delivering aid to northwestern Syria for another six months, after the Security Council failed to renew the mandate for the aid delivery operation. Syrian Ambassador to the United Nations, Bassam Sabbagh, wrote in a letter to the Security Council today, which was seen by Reuters, stating: "The delivery of UN aid must occur with full cooperation and coordination with the Syrian government."
